Installing Bookkeeper's Cashbook v2 Importing v1 Cashbooks into v2
Follow the steps below to setup Bookkeeper's Cashbook v2 on your system. To see if you're running 64-bit or 32-bit Windows, click Start button then right-click Computer and choose Properties to view the System Type. Please follow the steps below for importing Business Bookkeeper v1 cashbooks into Bookkeeper's Cashbook v2...
1. Choose Bookkeeper's Cashbook v2 for 64-bit Systems or Bookkeeper's Cashbook v2 for 32-bit Systems (according to your System Type) from the Setup menu above to download or run the setup. 1. Choose New from the File menu and create a new cashbook. Note that cashbook filenames are no longer restricted like in v1 so you can use long filenames.
2. Once Bookkeeper's Cashbook is setup on your system then enter your registration information by choosing Registration from the Special menu. If you require registration please use the Order menu above. 2. From the transaction window File menu, choose Import, Bookkeeper File, and browse to the v1 cashbook file you want to import and click Open.
3. Click the Folder tab, then click on the "..." button and browse to where you want to store your cashbook files then click Ok. 3. Click Ok at the Confirm Import dialog to start the import. Note that all years contained in the cashbook file will be imported.
4. Click the General tab and check items according to your preference. To enable the Auto Transaction feature, check Allow Automatic Transactions option. 4. Close the transaction window then repeat these steps for each cashbook file you wish to import.
Column Assignments Auto Transaction Assistant
Press F2 at the transaction window to display the Column Assignments. Right-click on the name to display the popup menu for editing Sub-Accounts, changing the column name, changing the status, or setting the tax rate. Note that each column has the tax rate pre-set. In the case of some columns such as Drawings and Bank Fees then the rate is pre-set to 0.00. All column assignments (except, of course, the GST columns) can be modified according to your requirements.   Auto Transaction Assistant remembers transactions you enter so that the next time you begin to type the same entry it will be available for you to select. The Auto Assistant also remembers column assignment and sub-account allocations so that transactions can be entered quickly with very few keystrokes. Choose Auto Assistant from the Edit menu to modify details such as column assignment, sub-account, or reference for transactions. Right-click on an item to edit it.
Tax Calculator Manual Transaction Entry
To use the Calculator click the Calculator button on the toolbar. Enter amounts on Gross, Net, or Tax lines to get the tax breakdown. Other calculations can also be performed by entering them on the Gross, Net, or Tax lines, for example: 123.45+2057.09+16.34 etc. then press Enter to calculate. Note that the Automatic Transaction feature can be temporarily disabled when entering a transaction. Just press the Esc key to allow manual entry and a column/sub-account assignment. Automatic Transactions will be enabled again as soon as you move onto another line.
Checking Transactions With PopUp Tooltips Cashbook Desktop Shortcuts
Transaction totals, column assignments, column amounts and sub-account assignments can be instantly viewed by hovering the mouse pointer to the left or right of each transaction. To check column and sub-account assignments hover the mouse down the numbered column to the left of the Date. For transaction amount allocations hover the mouse in the column to the right of the Running Balance. If there is an ! showing to the right of the running balance it means that amounts have not been allocated across the columns correctly for a transaction.   To allow for efficient selection of cashbook files then it is possible to set up desktop shortcuts that will launch Bookkeeper's Cashbook and open the cashbook at the transaction window. To set up a shortcut, first, copy the existing Bookkeeper's Cashbook shortcut then right-click on it and choose Properties. Next, enter the parameter, all on one line and remember to include the quotes, for Target, for example:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Bookkeeper\Bbc32.exe" "C:\Users\User\Documents\Bookkeeper\Your Account File.mdb"
